FAQs

If I’m healthy, does it still make sense to get tested?
Serious medical conditions can exist without noticeable symptoms therefore early detection is the best defense. Also, testing yourself when you are healthy establishes a baseline that you can compare to future tests.

What do I need to do to get tested?
From our website, choose the individual tests, panels or subscription level (if you choose to do a panel more than once a year) that best suits your needs, add them to your cart and proceed to the checkout. Complete checkout and follow the on-screen instructions to view and print your lab order. Take the lab order to the lab when you go for testing. Be sure to follow the preparation instructions for the tests ordered. You will receive an email notifying when your results are available.

How does LifeTech Diagnostics protect my privacy?
All credit card transactions go through a HIPAA-compliant card processor. All customer information is kept private. You are the only one who receives the results unless you provide written consent requesting the release to a third party.

What does the price of the laboratory test or subscription level include?
The price is all-inclusive so there will not be separate laboratory fees, lab order fees or processing fees. The price you pay at the checkout includes everything. No further payment is required at the lab unless you decide to add more or different tests to what was in your original order. In addition, you will be notified immediately by one of our Customer Service Representatives if your results are returned as critical or with an alert.

What payment methods do you accept?
All major credit cards are accepted. You must be 18 years of age or older.

Do you file claims for customers with insurance companies or Medicare or will they reimburse?
LifeTech does not file insurance claims for walk-in patients. Upon request, after the results are received, we will provide a receipt with all the necessary information to file with your insurance company. LifeTech does not guarantee reimbursement.

Can I add a test to my order after I purchased a test or panel?
Yes, we can combine lab orders. If after placing your order you decide an additional test is needed simply place another order and Contact Us prior to visiting the lab so that we can combine the orders for you.

Can the test panels listed on the website be modified?
Yes, test panels may be modified with a physician’s requisition. The listed pricing may also change accordingly.

I'm a doctor or licensed medical provider. Can I order testing for myself or patients?
Yes, we do have a healthcare provider program that is available. Please view the specifics of the program under the Providers tab on our website.

Do you offer DNA testing?
Yes, we offer Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT). Other types of DNA tests are also offered. Please call for details.

Is LifeTech an accredited lab?
Our lab is fully accredited CLIA lab and is used by healthcare providers.

How do I get my results?
Your results will be uploaded to your secure online account, usually within 24-48 hours of your specimen collection. Some tests may take longer.

Will my healthcare provider receive a copy of my results?
HIPAA regulations prohibit releasing results without your written consent. This includes immediate family members and spouses. However, if you consent then your results can be sent to your provider.

Will I be able to understand the results?
Yes, all test results include the normal reference ranges, with abnormalities indicated. We recommend you seek a healthcare provider to discuss results outside normal ranges.

What if I receive an abnormal result?
Abnormalities should be considered an early warning, but do not necessarily mean you have an illness or disease. We strongly recommend you discuss the results with your healthcare provider for evaluation, further testing and diagnosis.

Do positive STD and HIV results get reported?
Yes, positive results for HIV and STDs are reported to the state department via name-based reporting. The name of the person tested and the results will be reported but are only accessible by public health personnel to track HIV rates in the state. The state department removes all personal information and reports only the results to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Personal information is not shared with insurance companies or anyone else.

Can I get my results on the same day or faster than the time specified?
Yes, if your sample is collected early enough in the day. However, an additional expedite fee will be assessed.

Do I need to visit a doctor to get a lab order before getting tested?
No.

Can I use an existing order from my doctor to order tests from LifeTech Diagnostics?
Yes, you can use your order as a guide to select tests.

Do I need an appointment?
Yes. To make an appointment follow the on-screen instructions during checkout.

Should I fast before taking the test?
Check our website for more details and specific fasting requirements for the test(s) that you order.

Can I get tested if I'm sick?
If this test is meant to be your baseline health state test, then we recommend that you wait until you are not ill. Viruses such as colds and flu viruses as well as bacterial infections are stressful to the body and therefore may affect the results. However, if this test is to determine what is making you sick and to figure out treatment options with your doctor then yes, you can get tested while you are sick.

Will taking medicine affect my test?
It depends on the type of test you're having performed and what medication you take. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor. You should never stop taking prescribed medication without first checking with your doctor.
